The Trust in its Chennai Centre, recently started a new project - digitization of books for Bookshare.org, an NGO in US which is maintaining world’s largest on-line library for the blind & other persons with print disabilities. Hundreds of books are scanned, converted into word documents, proof-read and uploaded for the use of the print-disabled persons.
This project, fully manned by persons with disabilities, not only helps print-disabled across the word but also helps in employment and training for persons with disabilities. We can undertake digitization work including conversion in DAISY formats for others.
The association with Bookshare.org is really an eye-opener in WORTH Trust activities for it has introduced yet another sector for its production and employment activities. It has helped WORTH gain valuable experience and enter with confidence into the BPO sector for the first time.
The Bookshare membership is also available for the print-disabled persons in India. WORTH Trust has partnered with Bookshare.org to become their Southern Indian Region’s representatives. As part of this partnership WORTH Trust undertakes registration of the Southern India region’s print disabled persons memberships to Bookshare.org (contact worthtrust@vsnl.net for details).
