VOCATIONAL TRAINING

WORTH Trust runs three Technical Training Centers, one each at Katpadi, Pondicherry and Tiruchirapalli (all in South India). Physically disabled boys and girls with '10th standard pass' qualification are admitted to these centres and given training in the trades of :

Turner

Electronic Mechanic

Machinist

Welder

These are courses recognized by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT). Those who successfully complete the programme, receive certificates issued by the Directorate of Employment and Training of the Government of India.Going a step further, the Trust has also opened its doors to youth with disabilities, who do not meet the educational qualification requirements of NCVT, by providing them a two year non-formal training in its industrial units.

The Rotary Club of Madras takes a keen interest in the activities of the Trust. The Club funded the training course in the trade of Electronic Mechanic. The Club has also collaborated with the Trust in establishing computer training centers at Katpadi and Pondicherry. The trainees in these centres are also taught office-oriented secretarial skills.

The advantage of having production units next door, helps the trainees to get hands-on experience of work in the real world, making them ready to fill positions in industrial establishments. Tuition and lodging are provided free in all the Training Centres. A stipend is also paid.
